As the 2017 ski season in Japan nears, we are day dreaming and going through pictures from last season’s guided hokkaido backcountry touring adventure. Our trip guests spent a week exploring Daisetsuzan National Park based in the center of the island. Day touring trips were based out of cozy remote lodges where we returned home each afternoon to eat local Japanese dishes and relax in the hot springs, known as onsens.
Japan’s largest national park hosts amazing ski touring and split boarding with deep dry powder, epic vistas, open bowls, trees and very little ski touring traffic.
Patiently awaiting our 2017 Japan backcountry trips to begin, here is a photo gallery from our last season’s trip guests.
