Chile Earthquake Relief 2010

 Partnering with non profit Save The Waves, PowderQuest (personally affected by the 2010 earthquake) donated thousands of dollars of direct aid to the great people on the Chilean coast affected by the tsunami.

PowderQuest  donated $100 for each Chile ski tour sold between March 25-September 15, 2010 to the grassroots efforts of Save The Waves Coalition: Chile Earthquake and Tsunami Aid.

Until Feb. 27, 2010 the parents of PowderQuest founder, David Owen's Chilean wife Carolina lived in Pelluhue, on the coast just north of the epicenter. They escaped injury in the earthquake and their house was spared by the tsunami by just meters.  The town was devastated, but has now been mostly rebuilt thanks to local and international funding.

Save The Waves Chile earthquake relief efforts were focused toward Chile's hardest hit area, the communities of the Pacific Coast. Our early March 2010 donation went straight to the earthquakes epicenter with no bureaucratic delays, helping to distribute fresh water, water filters, sleeping bags and tents to those in need.

 Our second round of pledged donations went toward this rebuilding and a huge thanks to everyone that skied and snowboarded with us in 2010 for being a great part of it!

While most of Chile had minimal to no earthquake damage, it was a different story in the Maule and Bio-Bio Regions, especially the coast.
