In 2011 I was fortunate enough to spend a week with the Smith Optics crew shooting their snow catalog in Valle Nevado, Chile. The days were filled with sunrise and sunset photo shoots, afternoon slush shred sessions, and some seriously fun nights with the locals. Then there was Sarah. Seriously one of the funniest humans I have ever met. Her infectious smile and stories of how she scared people as one of her favorite past times made for some entertaining dinners 10,000 feet in the Andes.
First of all, a huge high five to Smith for doing this. In my opinion, Smith is one of the best companies out there, not only for their solid products, but for the team they have working for them and what they stand for. This donation is just another positive step Smith is making in the snow community. Bravo.
Secondly, this donation will certainly be well received. If you are not aware of the foundation, please check it out. Sarah spent a good part of her life making people smile, push their limits and doing philanthropy. The Sarah Burke Foundation continues where she left off, and as a non-proffit, donations like this are paramount.
We miss you Sarah!
