Above the village of Las Trancas, Chile, Nevados de Chillan Mountain Resort, (ex Termas de Chillan) at the base of active Volcano Chillan offers amazing terrain, powder, catskiing adventures, hotsprings and a relaxed environment.
This backcountry paradise is located only 5 hours from the metropolis of Santiago and can be reached by either car, train to Chillan or flight to nearby Concepcion.
The hiking in Nevados de Chillan is excellent, accessing some of the longest descents and better terrain in the Andes including a backcountry playground that would take a full season to explore.
Fun off piste and groomers can be found all over the mountain including the 13 km Tres Marias run. In 2010 Nevados de Chillan is scheduled to host the World Junior Alpine Ski Championship.
