Ski Portillo Chile on the stunning Inca Lagoon, is often ranked as one of the 10 best ski resorts in the world by Ski Magazine, Warren Miller, and the Travel Channel. For many, it is the best ski resort in Chili. Portillo ski season runs from June to October.
Portillo resort is family friendly with a great lay out of beginner to expert slopes, one of the best ski schools in South America, numerous activities for adults and kids of all ages and 3 hotels offering a range of budget to first class accommodations.
It is important to note that the resort is isolated with no ski town. Just the 3 hotels in the middle of the high Andes surrounded by great snow. Portillo boasts there are no TV's in the rooms and the fact that there are 450 smiling employees to cater to a maximum of 400 guest per week.
Portillo lodging guests are left in bliss with endless untracked powder, often for days, and also has some of the best bluebird spring conditions we have seen in Chile. The respected ski and snowboard school offers skiing or snowboarding lessons daily, or feel free to explore the open slopes, via the 13 chair lifts.
Advanced and Experts
Advanced and expert ski runs are legendary. Skiers and snowboarders can traverse to unbelievable terrain such as the steep, powdery Primavera Run. It was on one of these expert runs that the 200 km speed barrier was broken. Off-Piste and backcountry areas: hiking the "Portillo Super C" and other steep chutes above the mystical Inca Lake, or even heli-skiing with Frank Coffey of Chugach Powder Guides of Anchorage, Alaska.
Snowboarding in Portillo is welcome.
