From legendary and top rated ski resorts like Portillo, Valle Nevado, and La Parva, to the volcanic terrain of Termas de Chillan, Lonquimay, Llaima and Pucon, the Chilean Andes Mountains leave little flatland. It is a paradise for skiing and snowboarding during the South American winter.
For prime powder skiiing conditions in Chile, your best bet is mid July to early September. Untapped backcountry skiing and ski touring on the beautiful volcanoes of the Lake District can stretch well into November. The countryside of Chile is scattered with smoking snow covered volcanoes, and thermal springs, all the way into Patagonia. Cat skiing and heli-skiing are options as well in the Andes of Chile.
