Despite some miss information floating around online by some larger snow blogs, Las Lenas is indeed open for the 2016 season. Partially at least. Today, June 17, 2016 Las Lenas opened part of the upper mountain to the public and hotel guests staying at Escorpio and Acuario.
Our local amigo Jose Beccar got up there to check out conditions both on-piste and in the backcountry. As far as conditions go, Jose says the Apolo and Jupiter slopes are skiing great, but currently there is quite a bit of rock exposure on Venus, but still skiing ok. As we mentioned in our previous post rain washed away quite a bit of the base at the lower mountain, so we will just have to wait for the next storm until the lower mountain ski lifts and slopes gets going. For now, bring your touring gear and strong legs.

The backcountry of Las Lenas is a different story. Here are some photos from today Jose just sent PowderQuest.
Thanks for the shots Jose! Learn more about the terrain and how to get there on our review page.
