Many of the Southern Hemisphere ski resorts are off to a good start with their Fall snow pack. While the resorts around Santiago, Chile are still waiting for snow, further south, including Las Lenas, Nevados de Chillan, and the Patagonian ski destinations Chapelco, Cerro Bayo, Catedral and Baguales are all covered in deep snow and more is in the forecast this week, with a potential larger pulse arriving Saturday, just in time for opening weekend for several of these Southern Hemisphere resorts.
Corralco near Temuco, Chile was the first ski resort to open this season. Winter in the Southern Hemisphere officially begins on June 21, 2015.

Nevados de Chillan, home to many of our guided ski and snowboard adventures, plans on opening on June 25th with quite a bit of snow already on the ground. Locals are reporting a snow pack of close to 6 feet on the upper mountain already! Opening day known as “Dia Naranja” (Orange Day), offers special discounted lift tickets for $10,000 pesos, aprox. $16 USD.
